Software Engineering Manager: FDE

We are seeking an experienced and energetic Software Engineering Manager to lead a highly motivated and innovative Data Engineering team for our Houston office. As part of the software engineering department, your efforts will be critical to the success of Two Sigma’s global trading businesses. 

You will take on the following responsibilities:

  • Curate massive amounts of data for thousands of different tradable instruments, including stocks, bonds, futures, contracts, commodities and more

  • Manage the design and development of engineering solutions for supporting data pipelines and structured datasets 

  • Develop programs and improve/automate processes to perform statistical/quantitative analysis on datasets to ensure completeness and integrity

  • Coordinate project-related work with researchers, data analysts, data scientists and others on the engineering and business teams

  • Be part of a team that supports the data used by production trading algorithms

  • Manage an on-going support rotation to ensure continual availability of our software and datasets

You should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Computer Science (Master’s/PhD is a plus)

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in software development with demonstrated progression from hands-on experience to management roles

  • 2+ years of experience managing production software engineering teams

  • A proven track record of managing, developing, and mentoring software engineering teams and driving projects to completion

  • Leading the development of project plans, estimates and prioritization in accordance with the key objectives

  • Familiarity with working in an agile environment, delivering incremental features aligning with a long term product mindset

  • Extensive experience developing in-house software solutions

  • Experience in full-cycle product development

Ideal Candidates will have:

  • Experience in the finance domain

  • Experience working on data-related challenges such as data processing pipelines, data serving infrastructure, storage/query engines, data quality measurement/monitoring, and data visualization

  • Experience and knowledge in data infrastructure, storage, frameworks, and tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Cassandra, MongoDB, Elastic Search, SQL

  • Experience with public cloud technology such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, Google Cloud

  • Experience in machine learning, data mining such as NLP, classification, clustering
