We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Operations Specialist to join our broker dealer operations team in London, performing vital middle office functions and participating in projects and initiatives that will help develop and expand this critical business. The position offers exposure to various markets and opportunities to work with several teams in the company, including Trading, Technology, Finance/Accounting and Legal/Compliance.

You will take on the following responsibilities:

  • Work with clearing brokers and counterparties to resolve trade breaks
  • Perform daily and month end reconciliation of positions, cash and P&L versus brokers and admin
  • Ensure that trading systems utilize reconciled information and that all operational procedures and risk controls are set
  • Monitor and resolve locates and potential buy-ins
  • Analyze and process corporate actions
  • Find opportunities to build new tools and improve existing process flows and controls
  • Support trading desks
  • Coordinate various processes and projects with the Accounting, Legal, Technology and Compliance teams
  • Assist with the onboarding of new strategies and business initiatives
  • Ad-hoc projects/tasks as required

You should possess the following qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of operations experience at a broker dealer or asset management firm
  • Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record required
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with settlement processes for equities, options, futures and swap products
  • Ability to understand technological workflows across several platforms
  • Strong multitasking ability
  • Proficiency with MS Office products, particularly Excel
  • Understanding of risk management as it relates to trade support and trade execution
  • Proven reliability, judgment and responsibility
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and problem skills required with strong attention to detail
