Duties: Design, support and administration of distributed databases for both strategic and tactical trading and research initiatives, utilizing proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting application and database issues; work closely with software engineering groups on schema, index and query design to support application development; conduct performance monitoring and fine tuning for optimal performance; be responsible for a wide variety of technical projects using a combination of Windows and UNIX-based applications, including Microsoft SQL Server, as well as several file and database systems distributed over multiple sites; plan and implement backup and recovery procedures; develop and enhance system monitoring tools, and various automation tools; and provide system support.
Minimum education and experience required: Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Information Technology, plus 3 years of experience in Database Administration positions using a SQL server or in the alternative, Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Information Technology, plus 5 years of experience in Database Administration positions using a SQL server. Must also have experience using the following skills and technologies:
Must have experience with MSSQL Server administration;
Must have experience with performance troubleshooting, query analysis and tuning, and monitoring;
Must have experience with T-SQL, P-SQL;
Must have experience with setup and maintenance of Database High Availability solutions (Database Mirror, Replication);
Must have experience with implementation of automation to reduce manual administrative tasks through use of jobs, scripts and other techniques;
Must have experience with PostgreSQL Server administration; Bash Shell programming;
Must have experience with Powershell;
Must have experience with Python; Linux OS;
Must have experience with Windows OS; and
Must have experience with Git.
