Venn applies Two Sigma's expertise in research, data science, and technology to modernize the analytics experience for institutional investors, helping them embrace a quantitative approach to multi-asset portfolio risk and investment decision making. The tools available in Venn help investors perform factor-based risk analysis to inform manager due diligence, investment evaluation, and portfolio construction.
The Head of Finance and Strategic Operations role is a senior leadership position that requires and combines deep technical expertise and strategic commercial execution. As a member of the executive team, you will be a leading architect of Venn’s vision, mission, values, strategy and objectives. As the steward of Venn’s financial and strategic operations, you will empower all divisions while also creating, evaluating and implementing commercial opportunities to significantly accelerate Venn's growth. You will deploy playbooks from your extensive experience, right-size and tailor them for our current stage, and build to scale for our future. You inspire, engage, motivate and deliver towards a shared vision through precise, sustainable, thoughtful communication and execution. You will take on the following responsibilities:
- Expertly lead efficient, scalable, and data-driven execution of Venn’s finance and strategic operations practice
- Collaboratively develop strategic partnerships with the CEO and across Venn’s executive team, powering financial and operational excellence in each division of the business.
- Thoughtfully collect, synthesize and leverage industry intelligence to generate creative, strategic opportunities to accelerate Venn’s growth.
- Enthusiastically champion Venn's vision, mission, culture and team, informing and inspiring and both internal and external audiences
- Authoritatively own:
Finance Functions:
- Planning, budgeting, audits, tax optimization, measurement, management, reporting, analysis and communication.
- Implementation of systems, processes and strategies to ensure strong governance, empower efficient decisions, drive operational efficiency, surface insights and optimize performance.
- Deliver timely, accurate and highly detailed monthly, quarterly, annual and long-term financial reports, manage revenue recognition, lead modeling and strategic analyses.
- Ensure standard processes and controls are in place to follow GAAP and all applicable laws across relevant jurisdictions (federal, state, local, international, etc).
- Implementation of right-sized practices, processes and systems for Venn as a growth stage FinTech startup, adapting and scaling as we accelerate through stages and scales.
Strategic Operations
- Operationalize Venn's corporate growth roadmap, efficiently track progress and lead clear communications along the way
- Leverage data, research and partnerships to create, communicate and implement growth opportunities for Venn.
- Evaluate new business divisions, including step-function growth initiatives
- Continuously deliver detailed business intelligence, increased operational efficiency, and aligned decision-making capabilities across all divisions at Venn
You should possess the following qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years work experience required; 10-20 years of experience with accounting/finance, strategy and operations roles preferred, including 5+ years in FinTech
- BS/BA required; MBA or equivalent postgraduate experience preferred
- Finance & Strategic Operations leadership tenure (CFO / COO / Head of Finance / Head of Operations) in category-defining, enterprise technology companies spanning web apps, API/data and infrastructure platforms
- Experience in software businesses delivering technology for Risk, Portfolio Analytics, Wealth Management, and Institutional Investors
- Prior roles spanning startups and later stage companies strongly preferred
- Management experience leading distributed, global teams, and serving a global client base
- Alignment with Venn’s culture and values with references attesting to a track record of proactive cultural leadership and impact
- From long-term planning to regular reporting, drive operations and communications that are precise, detailed, clear and organized. Across all forms of communication, combine flexibility and clarity to deliver information in a variety of ways so the entire audience is clearly informed.

The base pay for this role will be between $200,000 and $300,000. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans and 401(k) contributions. Discretionary bonus can be a significant portion of total compensation. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including their skills, qualifications and experience.
