The News & Insight team’s vision is to monetize the world’s unstructured data, such as news, social media, television, events, or regulatory filings. We’ve collected and organized a one-petabyte corpus of unstructured data. We are seeking a candidate to join us in turning that data into trading models.

You will take on the following responsibilities:
  • Use rigorous scientific methods to develop sophisticated trading models that leverage unstructured data, textual data like news, and other event-driven data.
  • Employ your expertise in modern NLP, machine learning, neural networks, and/or graph neural networks to develop robust, novel, and sophisticated modeling techniques.
  • Apply machine learning to vast arrays of datasets, test complex investment ideas, and collaborate with our engineers to test your hypotheses.
  • Be a bridge with the academic and industrial research communities by reading the latest papers, attending academic conferences and seminars, and then sharing insights within the Two Sigma community. 

You should possess the following qualifications:
  • Degree in a technical or quantitative discipline, like statistics, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, or computer science (doctorate preferred)
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (like C, C++, Java, or Python).
  • Grounding in the fundamentals of statistics and probability.
  • Experience in the development and application of machine learning algorithms.
  • Experience applying modern NLP, machine learning, especially neural networks and/or graph neural networks to real-world datasets.
  • Your work has been published in journals and/or presented at conferences.

The base pay for this role will be between $165,000 and $325,000. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans and 401(k) contributions. Discretionary bonus can be a significant portion of total compensation. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including their skills, qualifications and experience.
