Private Investments Engineering (PIE) supports Two Sigma Private Investment businesses, with a heavy focus on Two Sigma Real Estate (TSRE). TSRE is relatively new business and is a major strategic bet for the firm. Within TSRE, PIE focuses on making research processes more efficient and effective; supports and improves investment flows; and responds to ongoing business developments within TSRE.

As a startup business, TSRE team members generally have outsized scope and impact relative to their level and prior experience while still enjoying the collaborative and balanced culture of Two Sigma engineering!
You will take on the following responsibilities:
  • Build full-stack solutions across frontend / backend web development, data visualization, and data transformations to support quantitative real estate investment
  • Partner with modelers to make research processes more efficient and effective, support production model operations, and build tooling to monetize insights
  • Partner with real estate investment professionals to support and improve their investment processes, deliver research insights, and automate key processes
  • Solve domain-specific problems within real estate across the entire quantitative modeling process from data ingestion to model training and inference

You should possess the following qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience required; 1-3 years of experience preferred
  • Backend web development experience; experience with Python, Flask and PostgreSQL are preferred
  • Frontend experience with Typescript and React / Angular
  • Strong software engineering skills and understanding of data structures and algorithms
  • Some exposure to system design
  • A pattern of rapid execution and delivery of high-quality code with low operational burden
  • Product mentality and eagerness to build structure in projects without close supervision
  • Curiosity about working on real estate problems; prior experience in real estate technology is a plus

The base pay for this role will be between $165,000 and $300,000. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans and 401(k) contributions. Discretionary bonus can be a significant portion of total compensation. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including their skills, qualifications and experience.
