Position Summary
Job Location: 100 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10013
Note: Company “Hybrid” work attendance policy: In-office work attendance required at the aforementioned office address for collaboration days based on each team’s requirement; telecommuting / working from home is permissible for remainder of the same month.

Duties: Building, maintaining, and improving a high-frequency, low-latency, and robust live market data ingestion and distribution system that connects most markets in the world with Two Sigma. Designing and implementing software components to process incoming market data and produce both historical and live market data artifacts for research. Modifying existing software or creating new software to resolve VFUs (Vendor Forced Upgrades), which ensures that Two Sigma is always up to date with vendors’ configurations and gets correct, uninterrupted market data. Supporting and amending critical market data systems during trading hours to minimize impact on Two Sigma’s trading activities in case of a software failure or an exchange outage.

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Position does not require specific years of experience but requires listed skills.

*Skills required: Must have demonstrated knowledge of developing high-performance, low-latency software using C/C++. Must have demonstrated knowledge of object-oriented programming using Java. Must have demonstrated knowledge of writing automation and utility scripts using Python. Must have demonstrated knowledge of distributed real-time systems. Must have demonstrated knowledge of relational database management systems (MySQL and PostgreSQL) and SQL programming. Must have demonstrated knowledge of developing software on Unix systems. Must have demonstrated knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. Must have demonstrated knowledge of version control tools (Git). Must have demonstrated knowledge of Unix command line and Bash shell scripting. Must have demonstrated knowledge of networking, connectivity, and Linux server technologies. Must have demonstrated knowledge of financial instruments and market microstructures involved in trading. Must pass company’s required skills assessment. Employer will accept any amount of coursework or experience with the required skills.

The base pay for this role will be between $165,000 and $325,000 per year. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other wellness plans and 401(k) contributions. Discretionary bonus can be a significant portion of total compensation. Actual compensation for successful candidates will be carefully determined based on a number of factors, including their skills, qualifications and experience.
